When the seasons change, so should your skincare routine. Of course, the best summer skincare routine for you is going to depend on your skin type and skin needs. But some simple skin care tips we can offer everyone’s summer skincare routines include:
Sun Protection
Apply SPF daily, wear UV protective clothing, seek out shade, and avoid peak hours if possible. The sun can be damaging to your skin leading to skin concerns like sunburns, hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and even skin cancer. These factors make protecting your skin from the sun essential.
After-sun care is important too, because sometimes, despite our best efforts, we do expose our skin to too much sun. A few ways you can soothe a sunburn or soothe your skin after a long day in the sun are to:
- Moisturize your skin with gentle and natural products like our body oils or body butters that have skin-soothing ingredients like shea butter and cocoa butter.
- Applying cold packs or taking a cool shower can help calm the skin, particularly if you’re sunburnt.
Follow your CTMs
Regardless of your skin type, we recommend that everyone cleanse, tone, and moisturize their skin daily. Of course, the products chosen for these steps are what will vary from person to person based on skin types, needs, and concerns.
Wondering which products are best for your skin type? We can help! (And if you’re unsure of your skin type, take a read through our blog post How to Determine Your Skin Type)
- If you have acne-prone or oily skin, you’ll want products that deeply cleanse your pores and offer antibacterial properties to help prevent breakouts. A few of our top picks that meet this skin need are our Tea Tree Cleanser and Tea Tree Toner. If you’re looking for intense cleansing, we recommend adding our Radiant Glow Cleansing Oil as a double cleanser in your routine.
You’ll also want to include a lightweight moisturizer. This helps keep your skin’s natural oil production in balance. bBelieve it or not this helps to prevent breakouts! When your skin is dry it produces more oils which can cause breakouts, a lightweight moisturizer is a great way to prevent this.
Our lightweight, hydra-boosting product recommendations include our Chamomile Hydration Mist, Lemongrass Balancing Mist paired with our Perfect Skin Serum or Radiant Glow Elixir.
- If you have sensitive skin, dry skin, or eczema, you’ll want soothing, non-irritating options like our Black Soap Cleanser, Rose Water Face Mist, and Rose Revive Face Serum. Also, consider our Shea Skin Therapy as a face and full-body moisturizer to soothe your skin and give you relief from dry skin, eczema, and psoriasis.

Stay Hydrated
Hydration is essential year-round, especially in the summer. Ensure you’re drinking plenty of water each day. A common goal is eight cups of water each day.
Not a fan of water? Try these tricks:
- Add in a few slices of lemon, lime, cucumber, or all three
- Add in a handful of frozen berries
- Make yourself a cup of herbal tea
Exercise
Getting sweaty may seem counterintuitive, but getting your blood flowing is a great way to naturally get glowing skin. So, go ahead and reveal your natural radiance with a run, a hike, or a bike ride. Just don’t forget to rinse or cleanse your face when you’re done. (If you’re on the go, our face mists make a great toning option to keep your skin clear.)
Sleep
If you’re skincare obsessed (like we shamelessly are) you know that getting enough quality sleep helps you get beautiful glowing skin. But have you ever thought about why that is?
Turns out there’s some science behind it! Sleep allows your body to:
- Regenerate and repair
- Increase blood flow
- Produce collagen
These all allow your body and skin to recover and repair from daily stresses and damages for a beautiful look. Turns out there’s a reason the term beauty sleep exists!
To help you wake up to bright, radiant skin, apply our Skin Revive Brightening Night Serum at the end of your evening skincare routine. It offers non-clogging moisture and nutrient-rich ingredients to reveal your natural radiance.
De-stress
Stress is never fun, and it can even impact the health of your skin making concerns like acne, breakouts, signs of aging, eczema, and psoriasis worse. Making time for activities that help to reduce stress (aka self-care activities) is a great way to combat these outcomes.
A few of our stress-reducing and self-care activities include:
- Meditating
- Exercising
- Putting on a face mask
- Having an at-home spa day (check out our ultimate spa day blog post for inspiration)
