Ha-ha! Oops! I did it again. But to be serious, isn’t Shea butter turning out to be our new favorite? But do we even have the slightest clue of, where do we get it from? I guess the answer would probably be No!
But don’t you worry I am here to help. So basically your beloved smooth Shea Butter, that’s turned out to be your skin’s best friend is, in fact, a fat extracted from the nut of the African Shea (karite) tree and its only found in the tropics of Africa. Karite tree which begins to bear fruit after about 15 years; and can take up to 30 years to bear a quality crop of nuts with a high content of irremovable fatty acid. Yes, you heard that right! And it is also yellow in color when raw.
As we all know it is widely used in cosmetics as moisturizers lotion or oil even but what we didn’t know is Shea butter is edible and is used in food preparation in Africa.
